Based on the 1960s U.S. military Tropical Pants—commonly known as Jungle Fatigue Pants, one of the original models of cargo pants—this piece has been reconstructed from the pattern up into a more modern, wearable silhouette.
Originally developed during the Vietnam War to adapt to jungle environments, these pants were introduced as the successor to the M-51 and went on to become the foundation for later U.S. military cargo pants. While retaining signature early-model details such as the distinctive flap design, this version preserves the character of the 1960s while incorporating ACU digital camouflage from the 2000s, a motif FIFTH has consistently explored.
The silhouette has been updated from its traditional straight military cut to a wider, more contemporary balance. Designed with everyday wear in mind, it offers improved comfort and ease of use.
Building on FIFTH’s ongoing approach to reinterpretation, this piece blends ACU-derived digital camouflage with the structural foundation of early cargo pants from the 1960s, creating a well-balanced fusion of vintage and modern elements.
